Updated: Dec 3, 2021

Rapid research and development in the health industry has led to many new dimensions. We are looking for risk free ways to reduce the symptoms of chronic health issues. We have known cannabis for centuries, but mostly for its recreational use. Ancient Chinese used cannabis for pain relief. Research carried out in the last few decades’ show that cannabis is composed of more than 100 different and exceptionally useful compounds. Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the most popular cannabinoids. CBD is completely non-psychoactive and does not produce any negative effects on the brain and cognitive function.

CBD or cannabidiol is prominent exogenous cannabinoid usually extracted from industrial hemp. Hemp is used for a wide range of purposes. Hemp essentially became popular for its strength and fiber but with time we discovered that it is also a source of cannabinoids which are also present in cannabis. CBD is sourced from the buds, stalks and leaves of the hemp plant. It is extracted by using different methods such as solvent extraction or super critical carbon dioxide extraction.

Will CBD get you high?

CBD does not produce any euphoric effects. Research has shown that it does not directly interact with our body but allows it to perform its functions optimally on its own. CBD is known to affect the working of the brain but unlike THC, it does not alter the working of the nervous system.

CBD works by interacting with the receptors of the endocannabinoid system. These receptors of the ECS are present in the brain and the immune system cells. CBD has a special affinity for the cb2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system. The human body produces it’s on endogenous cannabinoids which interact with these receptors when required. CBD offers exceptional anti-inflammatory properties which can help in the better performance of the immune system specially for people who are suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases.
